Note: If the accounting period is above 12 months, separate tasks will be created depending on the extra number of months above the first 12 months. For example, if the Accounting period is 16 months, then the first task will be created for the first 12 months, and the second task will be created for next 4 months. Based, on the number of tasks, the number iXBRL files will be generated in BrightTax. - Once you proceed for submission, system will search for the client in BrightTax based on the Company number which is an 8 digit alphanumeric code. There can be multiple scenarios which you may come across which are described below:
-
Scenario 1: If system detects any valid client in BrightTax based on the Company number, it will be displayed. The following situations may arise based on the existing information provided:
- Empty UTR Number: A warning message will appear mentioning the UTR (unique taxpayer reference) Number is not set up for the client in BrightTax. This is a warning message and you can update the same later in BrightTax. Click Close to proceed.
- Company Registration Number does not match: If the Company Registration Number in the generated iXBRL Accounts of BrightAccountsProduction does not match the Organisation Company Registration Number in BrightTax, you will come across an error message. In order to proceed for submission, you are required to update the Company Number in Bright AP to match the same in BrightTax. For example, if the Accounts file has the Company Number in Bright AP is mentioned as "530630" and the Organisation Company Registration Number in BrightTax is mentioned as "00530630", then you should modify the one in BrightAP to match the same in order to proceed with submission. Click Close to proceed with the modification. To modify the Company Number in Bright AP, ensure that the status for Closedown, Accounts Filed, and Ready for Signing are "Not Started". You can amend the account status from Produce Accounts > Status. Then navigate to Compliance Database > Key Information > Client Details > General Information and update the Company number to match the same in BrightTax. Once the update is saved, ensure to change back to the previous status for Ready for Signing, Accounts Filed, or Closedown as applicable to the set of accounts undergoing iXBRL submission.
- Scenario 2: If the system cannot detect a valid client in BrightTax based on the Company number of the generated iXBRL Accounts, an error message will appear mentioning that no BrightTax client is found to match with the current Bright AP client. In this case, you are required to create the client manually in BrightTax and regenerate the iXBRL Accounts for submission.
- Scenario 3: If the system cannot detect any error, it will proceed to create the task for BrightTax to submit that UK iXBRL Accounts for HMRC.
-
Scenario 1: If system detects any valid client in BrightTax based on the Company number, it will be displayed. The following situations may arise based on the existing information provided:
- Once you have updated the required details and the task for BrightTax is created, the iXBRL Submit to BrightTax window will appear. Click Submit to BrightTax here.
- A success message will appear confirming the successful submission of the iXBRL Accounts to BrightTax. Click Go To BrightTax to review and proceed further with the corporation tax calculation and submission. You will be redirected to the BrightTax application for further actions. In BrightTax, you can then generate the computation file for the submitted iXBRL accounts.
- Once the Corporation Tax iXBRL computation file is created successfully in BrightTax CT Task, the Produce Accounts page in BrightAP will display a new button, CT Journal. This button is only available for the current year dataset.
Note: If the computation file is not generated in BrightTax or the CT Journal has already been posted to the system, clicking this button will display that no journals are available. - A confirmation message will be displayed, giving details of the journal which will be posted. Click Yes if you wish to proceed with posting the journal.
- A success message will be displayed confirming that the BrightTax CT journal is posted successfully. The journal will be posted in Read-only mode and no modifications can be performed from BrightAP.
- To view the posted journal, select Nominal Ledger from the left sidebar menu and navigate to the Journals page. You can view the related journal posted in Read-only mode.
Note: Once you proceed with the CT journal procedure and the journals are posted in BrightAP, the BrightTax iXBRL submission task will be reset. You can proceed with a new submission process after the successful posting of the journal. - Note: You should review your Tax Reconciliation Note, to ensure it still balances. If not, you may need to update the entries in the Compliance Database.
- Then you will need to re-create the iXBRL file and re-submit it to BrightTax.
