Why do the figures go out of alignment when I export accounts from Bright AP to Word, and how can I resolve this?
When exporting accounts from Bright Accounts Production (BAP) to Microsoft Word, you may notice that the figures sometimes appear misaligned in the columns. This occurs because the exported file adopts your local Word layout settings rather than retaining the original formatting from Bright AP.
Important Notes:
- Word uses your own layout settings
Once accounts are exported to Word, the document is no longer controlled by Bright AP. It adopts your Word template, which may include custom spacing, font settings, or tab alignment that alters how figures appear. - Manual adjustments are required
You will need to manually review and adjust the layout in Word to correct any alignment issues. This includes using tabs or tables, aligning decimal points, and ensuring consistent formatting across pages. - Best practice
If editing typos is your main reason for exporting, consider reviewing and correcting text in Bright AP before export. Alternatively, use the PDF export for a fully formatted version if no further editing is required.
Unfortunately, there is no system-side fix for this, as the formatting is dependent on individual Word settings. To avoid these issues, consider continuing to use the Produced Accounts PDF generated directly in Bright AP.
