I need to record different share classes — how do I do this in Bright AP?
Yes, Bright Accounts Production allows you to record and manage multiple share classes under the same company entity. This is useful for scenarios involving Ordinary, Preference, or Alphabet shares with varying voting rights.
Steps to Add Share Classes
- Open the Client Dataset Go to: Company > Select a Company
- Navigate to Share Classes Go to: Company > Connections > Share Classes
- Add a New Share Class
- Click Add a Share Class
- Enter a unique name for the class (e.g., Ordinary A, Ordinary B)
- Tick or untick the box for voting rights, depending on the share structure
- Click Save
- Repeat as needed to create additional classes (e.g., Preference Shares, Redeemable Shares)
Notes
- You can edit existing share classes at any time by clicking the green pencil icon beside the entry.
- Each share class will appear in the relevant areas of the accounts, including the Share Capital note and Statements of Changes in Equity, once transactions are assigned.
